When you are trying to build something it is easy to reach for the hammer!
No! Not that one!
We want the tool that gives us a quick solution.
Hammer and nails. Done!
But sometimes we don't know our own strength and we do more damage than creation.
Social Media can be like the hammer. - "Let me just send this and everything will be right with the world." B-A-M !
Sometimes we swing a little too hard and - you know . . .
When used with a light touch - and sparingly - you can build something great. But, if you strike the wrong spot, everything splinters and breaks. Careful with that hammer!
Q. So what do you want to build?
Online communities have value - but they don't replace in-person human contact. Too much hammering and our community is broken. You go to Facebook to "be with" your friends, yet you often feel empty and lonely afterwards, so you hammer more and more...
Hammers and nails strike a tiny area with great force. Maybe it will go in straight and do the job or maybe that nail goes sideways and wrecks what we are trying to build.
If you want to build a lasting and memorable community be the glue.
It is easy to hate and destroy from afar. Meeting in person, hanging out, you grow strong bonds. Hang around long enough and you'll start sticking together!
Being together, doing things together, holds everything together . . . that's what builds a strong community.
Sure one drop of glue may not hold anything - but when it joins its fellow drops - amazing things can happen!
So, I'm just one drop of glue. Where do I find more?
I know where . . .
There are other brands too. This just happens to be my favorite.
You can hear about this, and other glues online . . .
But you have to show up in person to get them.
You'll be glad you did ! ! !
